How to fix Live Text not working on iOS 15 : iPhone/iPad

Live text is a cool feature on iOS 15 which lets the iPhone to quickly recognise text and select, copy, paste, and lookup in both the Camera and Photos app. This is a cool feature which will even pick the handwriting and recognise the text. You can use the Live Text with camera app, Photo app. Live Text can also sort photos by location, scene, people, objects, and more by reading the Text in your photos.

But many iPhone users are reporting issue with the Live Text OCR feature in the iOS 15 not working or reading the text wrong.  

Why Live Text is not working on some iPhone , iPad model on iOS 15:

Please note that the Live Text Supported feature is supported on some limited iPhone models, basically Live Text feature requires iPhone with A12 bionic chips. Live text is deep neural network and relies heavily on neural engine. That’s why only A12 and above support it which have a capable neural engine

 So iPhones including iPhone X and older will not support live text. Below list of iPhone will support the live text feature

iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max.

Phone 12, 12 Mini, ihone 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max.

iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max. XS, XS Max. XR.

How to turn on Live Text on the iPhone Camera App:

• -On the iPhone Open Setting 
• -Scroll down and tap on Camera.
• -Turn on Live Text
• -Force close the app and Restart the camera app
• -You are good to use the feature.

How to turn on Live Text on the iPhone Photo App:

• -On the iPhone Open Setting 
• -Tap General
• -Scroll down and tap on Language and religion .
• -Enable the Live Text 
• -Now you can scan any photo for text in the Photo App
• oOpen Any photo in the Photo app of iPhone
• oThere will be live text icon (viewfinder square with three lines”) at bottom of screen
• oTap on that it and it will scan any text in the photo.

How to fix Live text Not working on iPhone 12,13 Pro Max:

Fix 1: Change the region settings

The iOS 15 Live text feature is limited to some region or countries. If the live text feature is not available in your country try changing the region/language in the iPhone settings.

• -Open iPhone settings
• -Tap General-> Language & Region
• -Set language to English and region to US for test purpose.

Fix 2 : Hard reset the iPhone
