How to fix iPhone 13 Pro over Brightening dark Photos ?



iPhone 13 Pro is a flagship phone from Apple and has major hardware upgrades specially if you compare camera of the iPhone 13 with the older versions. But there are some issue reported with iPhone 13 camera that the dark photo/indoor photos taken by iPhone 13 is brighten up in Photos app. When a photo is taken in dark , the captured image is shown normal and expectedly dark but when the same image is viewed in the Photo app , it automatically exposed brighter and does not look natural.

It appears that the iPhone 13 is auto correcting all the photos, specially the dark photos. It annoying issue with iPhone 13 Pro camera.  The iPhone 13 Pro camera is unusable indoors unless next to natural light. This is frustrating for the iphone 13 pro owners who bought the phone for camera quality.

Fix : Workaround  


There is a workaround to fix the issue when iPhone 13 automatically increase brightness of the dark photo. While taking photo make sure live photos is ON or if it is already ON toggle it to OFF . Live photos are captured and shown normally in the gallery on iPhone 13 Pro.  


Fix : Edit the photo


If iPhone 13 photos are over brighten then you can edit the Photo in photos app. Open the photo in Photos app and Tap on Edit-> Change setting Auto correction. But doing this on every photo is annoying but works as a quick workaround for a photo. 


Fix : Reset iPhone settings 


Due to some glitch in iPhone 13 Pro camera settings , the photos might not be stored normally and getting processed to be shown as auto brightened. To fix that just reset iPhone settings to fix setting glitch in iPhone. 


Go to iPhone Setting app-> General->reset or Transfer iPhone-> Reset all settings.

Your iPhone will reboot after this and settings like Wifi network will reset. But you won’t lost any data in this process. 


Fix : Report issue to Apple and Update to latest iOS

Further please ensure to update the iPhone to latest iOS version for permanent fix for the issue.
