How to fix TikTok messages not working 2022 ?: iPhone/ Android

Many users are facing issue in TikTok app not sending messages to friends and contacts. While sending a message the users is getting  “Unable to send message” on tiktok.  Not only while sending TikTok message but also while commenting on the user post also does not work.

Fix : Check  your Privacy Settings

If you are not receiving message from any user or not able to send message over TikTok, then  common reason is privacy settings. Go to your settings by pressing the three dots in the top right corner of the “Me” tab, then go to Privacy and Safety, scroll down to the Safety section and make sure your settings are right.

Fix : Ensure to Add Your Phone Number for TikTok

Please note that as per TikTok policy, you should verify your phone number. So, if you or the recipient haven’t done this yet, it could be why your TikTok messages aren’t working for you.

Fix : Check Follow status 

Ther Tiktok Policy that coule block you from sending message over tiktok is that You can't send messages on Tik Tok of the person you are requesting to send a message is not a friend of yours. Both of you have to follow each other. Only friends can send messages in Tik Tok.

Otherwise if still you can't send messages to a friend of you that both of you guys have followed each other, try to clear cache of Tik Tok in the device settings and resend it. 

Fix.: Check Supported Messages

You won’t be able to send message to other user if its format is not supported by TikTok. Format like Giphy images are not supported and hence you can’t send such picture on TikiTok messages. 

Fix : Server Issue

Other reason why Tiktok messaging is not working can be due to server issue. Please Check the TikTok Server Status or is currently undergoing issues or outages.

Fix  Check for TikTok App Updates

One other common reason why tiktok message won’t work is that your TikTok app not on latest version of update. Please check for pending update on your i. Perhaps the TikTok messages problem was a bug with the previous app version.

Fix : Contact TikTok Support

If none of above fix did not help to fix the issue the the issue could be due to software bug in TikTok. Please report the issue to TikTok app support and wait for a permanent fix.
