How to fix Spotlight Search not working on iOS 15 ?

Many iPhone 12 on iOS 15, iPad on iPadOS 15 users are reporting issue with the Spotlight search not working after iOS 15 update. The issue is across all different devices including iPhone 12 Pro Max , 11, the search is completely broken in Spotlight & App Library.

This is very disappointing to see from Apple that in latest iOS 15 still the search like basic functionality is not working. Some iPhone users tried to reset or restore the iPhone to iOS 15 but still that does not help. The spotlight search is not able to search any app, mail or shortcuts. This is very annoying.  The issue can be seen on both iPhone, iPad devices. Below we have listed some possible fix/workaround for solving Spotlight search not working in iOS 15:

Fix 1 : Hard Reboot the iPhone 

To fix Spotlight search not working on iOS 15 could be fixed by a normal restart to the iPhone or you can try to hard reset the iPhone. The warning will go after the phone restart but the issue may reappear again after some time of use. 

Fix  2: type the name and hold 

Other workaround to make search work in iOS 15 is to type the name of the app you are looking for and then press and hold space for 10 secs. It will take around 5-10 seconds to show result. 

• -Type the app your looking for example, "Outlook"

• -Hold the space bar as if you wanted to activate the pointer function, and then just release.

• -The Spotlight search should show you the result.

Fix 3: Put a space and then search the app

Another easy workaround to fix iOS 15 search not working is just put a space and then write the name of the app, now search should work again in iOS 15 iPhone, iPad.

Fix 4 : Change Siri & Search Setting 

On the iPhone Go to the Settings > Siri & Search.

Scroll down to end and Tap on app name and enable Search & Siri Suggestions toggle. Change the setting (enable it ) to get the app in your search result.

Fix 5: Wait for sometimes for indexing

The Spotlight search in the iPhone or iPad is done using indexing the database. Usually after the iOS updates the indexing are done again in the iPhone which may take some time. Therefore we recommend you to wait for a while and check back later .
