How to fix PS4 Pro " An error has occurred SU-42118-6" ?


Many PS4 users are reporting issue with the PS4 that after an automatic update in PlayStation Pro it is giving error SU-42118-6. The issue happens just after restarting the PS4 after the update is completed on it. And due to error  SU-42118-6 the PS 4 is not working. And remote connection is not possible after this issue. Only thing that it lets to do is click enter when turn my remote on and as it's connecting, plug it into the system with a USB and then press enter, after this it shuts down again.

During the error is seen by the users the Blu-ray drive would not eject the disc. The issue seems to be widespread and lots of user are reporting this issue that PS4 gives error SU-42118-6 when trying to install the system update. How to fix error SU-42118-6 in PS4 after Software Update  ?



Fix 1  : Remove any disc in the PS4 tray


For many users the error SU-42118-6  is faced when they have a game disc inserted in the PS 4 during the update . If you have a game in the disc tray, take it out and put it in again or leave it out. Then download the update again.


Fix 2:  Update Blue ray disc manually and Rest it 


As discussed in the Fix 1, the Error SU-42118 seems to be related to disc in the PS 4.  If the disc is not ejecting from PS4 and got stuck in it, you will see the error SU-42118. To fix this issue and the error , You should  manually eject the disc with the eject screw, and try updating it in safe mode with the USB drive and If you see the issue again  you should resetting the Blu-ray Drive. Just run the update regularly through the PS4 menu after opening it, fixing it, and closing it, and the PS 4 update should go fine.


Fix 3 : remove bluray wire


There is another way to fix PS4 Error SU42118-6, please follow below steps for the fix :

  • Pop  the bottom lid off


  • Disconnected the power supply from the 


  • Carefully remove bluray wire the one that was closest to power supply and then reconnect


  • Powered back up in safe mode and updated via usb.




Fix  4 : update the PS4 system software using a USB.


  • Restart your PlayStation 4 console and try to update the system software using a wired Internet connection if possible.


  • Select Notifications from the PS4 function area, highlight the update file and press the "Options" button 


  • Now then tap on the "Delete" option.


  • Next, select Settings and go to the "System Software Update" section. 


  • If you experience multiple failed downloads, please update the PS4 system software using a USB.
