How to fix Google app Settings "Open web pages in the app" greyed out/Not working: iPhone/Android?
Google have recently introduced its new feature which allows to manage webpages in the Google App. This is useful update and user have option to turn this feature ON or OFF from the Google App settings.
But recently many users are facing issue that they can open web pages in the app not working on their Google App. The open web pages in the app not working. The setting "Open web pages in the app" in Google app not working, pages still opening in Chrome. clearing cache, data, reinstalling does not seems to help to fix the issue.

While Trying to open a web page from the Google app, it would open in Chrome and not in the app. When check in the Google app settings and the "Open web pages in the app" option was greyed out and it says "open and set up Chrome to enable this option”.
The Google app Webpages are not opening across different devices like Samsung phones, OnePlus, Google Pixel and other Android devices, which makes the issue irrelevant to the phone or devices used. Fix : uninstall the Google chrome latest update
The issue seems to be linked with the new Google Chrome app update due to which the webpages are not opening the Google app but on Google Chrome. Google Chrome update disable the settings Open web pages in the app". To temporarily fix that please try to uninstall the latest update of Google Chrome and wait for patch fix for the update. Go to settings, then go to chrome, then tap on the dots (the more options button), then click on "uninstall updates", then try again.
Fix : Uninstall unauthorised the third party apps
If you have installed any third party browsers in your iPhone/Android phone then you should uninstalled those to try if the issue is caused by the third party browsers.
Fix : Update the Chrome app
Since for most of the user Google App settings "Open web pages in the app" greyed out after Google Chrome update, we recommend you to check for any patch fix/ update from Google Chrome on the PlayStore to get permanent fix for the issue .
