Fix Siri saying “south” wrong in Maps : iPhone 12/iOS 15

In the latest iOS 15 many iPhone user are facing issue with Siri pronouncing words wrong. Same is the case with the work “South” pronounced differently by Siri as  sajutee  or ‘sow-too-gee’ which is very different. It is not only pronouncing south incorrectly but Siri is also saying the street names incorrectly, such as Bronson as B R plus onsi etc.

The issue is multiple iPhone model of different version and South is being pronounced completely incorrectly as it “W Abrams St”, which is annoying. Further the issue seems to be random as not all addresses are announced incorrectly by Siri even if they do contain “South” also for one address it may work well once but not from the next time

Fix 1 : Change language

One workaround to fix Siri pronunciation issue is to set a different language . If you language is set to UK English, try changing it to English (United States). Go to iPhone settings->Siri and Search->Language and change it. 

Fix 2 : Change Siri Voice

Try changing Siri Voice from male to female or vice-a-versa. Go to iPhone settings->Siri and Search-> Tap Siri Voice. Select Different voice and check if it announce well.

Fix 3: Show Siri Captions

If you are finding it difficult to understand what Siri is saying , you have option to see Siri Captions.  Go to iPhone settings->Siri and Search->Siri Response->Enable Always Show Siri Captions. 

Apart from these workaround we recommend you update iPhone to latest iOS 15 version as permanent fix would b released by Apple for this fix in upcoming release.
