Facebook messenger keeps stopping “Unfortunately, Messenger Has Stopped” : iPhone/Android

Many iPhone 13,12 Pro Max users are reporting issue with Facebook messenger not working properly and keeps on stopping. The issue is happening on both iPhone and Android version of FB Messenger and Messenger randomly keeps on stopping and shows message that Unfortunately, Messenger Has Stopped.

This is very annoying as the Facebook messenger randomly stops working on iPhone and Android phones. The issue can be seen while opening the Messenger and it fails to open and says Messenger has stopped. Also after showing this message the Messenger crashes but not for all the users. Even if the Messenger opens fine but crashes whenever  try to make a call through the app. This is very annoying as every time if you open a picture, send a picture, try to open a group chat, and just about anything else, the messenger app on iPhone freezes and crashes.

Fix 1: Switch Network mode 

Try to toggle to different network mode in the iPhone/phone like using WiFi instead of cellular Data or checking with different data service provider. Try to toggle Airplane mode also and check if messenger opens fine after that

Fix 2: Clear cache of Messenger app

To fix Messenger stopped working you should try to Clear it's data and cache from  the Android phone. To Android phone settings\apps\messenger and clear the cache and data of the messenger app

Fix 3: Update the app

Most of the user are facing after updating the iPhon, Android firmware. In such cases if your phone is on latest OS and if you are using older version of Messenger then probably the app may crash due to incompatibility. Go to play store/App store to check for  any pending update for Messenger app.

Fix 4 : Try to reinstall the Messenger app

 

To fix any software glitch you should try to reinstall the Messenger app on your iPhone/Android phone. Simply delete the app from the phone first and redownload it from the Store again. 

Fix 5:  Download an older version from apkmirror or the latest beta

If you are facing Messenger stopping randomly after updating the messenger , then the issue could be with the new version of the Messenger app. Try using older version from mirror sites or you may download the latest beta from the developer sites.

Fix  6: Use Messenger lite

Many users who are facing Messenger stopping issue are not seeing the issue on Messenger lite. The messenger lite seems to be more stable and we recommend you to download the Messenger lite in case of urgent requirements.
