Trump Dog Whistles That Kamala Harris Is ‘Mentally Impaired’ Amid Suspicions Of His Own Mental Decline

Everyone who isn’t a dedicated supporter of Donald Trump has taken note of what appears to be the ex-president’s clear cognitive decline. Trump speaks in a way that indicates he has no idea how syntax works, he bounces around aimlessly from subject to subject, he rambles about batteries sinking military boats and causing shark attacks, and he appears to truly believe that his imagination is a credible source of factual information. (To be fair, it’s arguable that none of this is remotely new for the commander-in-cancer-causing-windmills-and-Lysol-injections.)

Meanwhile, Trump’s go-to strategy for combatting the notion that he’s declining mentally comes in the form of an argument one can be sure he believes is solid and unassailable:

I know you are, but what am I?

During a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, Trump insisted that not only is Vice President Kamala Harris “mentally impaired,” but she was “born that way.”

Actually, Trump made the remark two days in a row. On Saturday, during a rally in Wisconsin, Trump claimed “Joe Biden became mentally impaired; Kamala was born that way.”

“Think about it: Only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country,” he added, referring to what has been his favorite subject to lie about and use as an excuse to spread racist and xenophobic hate speech: the immigration crisis at the southern border.

Trump repeated the attack on Biden and Harris Sunday, only this time he added a couple more adjectives.

“Crooked Joe Biden became mentally impaired — sad. But lying Kamala Harris, honestly, I believe she was born that way,” he said.

During the two speeches, Trump also called Harris “dumb,” as he has done in the past, he called her a “Stupid person,” and he called her “mentally disabled — all of which were obviously statements of pure, caucasified projection.

During the same speech in Erie, where Trump repeated his remarks about Harris’ mental acuity, he conjured up a non-existent reality where cops can’t legally stop shoplifters from shoplifting without losing their jobs, and he suggested that the way to deal with that non-problem is essentially by implementing a real-life version of The Purge.

“What the hell is going on?” he asked rhetorically (although, any non-Trump supporter watching the speech would surely be seeking an actual answer to that question). “See, we have to let the police do their job. And if they have to be extraordinarily rough. And you know, the funny thing with all of that stuff, look at the department stores — same thing — they walk into it. You see these guys walking out with air conditioners —with refrigerators on their back. The craziest thing. And the police aren’t allowed to do their job. They’re told if you do anything, you’re gonna lose your pension, you’re gonna lose your family, your house, your car.

“You know, if you had one day, like one real rough, nasty day,” he continued. “One rough hour, and I mean real rough, the word will get out and it will end immediately. End immediately. You know, it’ll end immediately.”

So, basically, Trump thinks Harris is “mentally impaired,” but he also thinks cops should be allowed a free police brutality happy hour because, somehow, under current conditions, they will lose their pension, house, car and family for — *checks notes* — doing the only thing they’re legally obligated to do when they visibly catch someone committing theft.

Hell, while we’re here, let’s go back to his speech in Wisconsin, where he called Harris “mentally impaired,” while also making up orangey-white nonsense about “hundreds of little cities and little towns” where Venezuelan gangs have taken complete control, leaving local law enforcement “petrified.”

“You’re talking about areas of the Midwest where they’re becoming famous because they’re being occupied, and this is hundreds of little cities and little towns,” Trump said. “They’re petrified, and their law enforcement is petrified. You have a sheriff and a deputy, or you have a small group, and you’ll have a group of Venezuelan killers street gangs occupying the town with MK-47s.”

Now, lying about migrant crime has generally been Trump’s political bread and butter as of late — just ask the Haitian community — so these claims are just par for the MAGA course. However, it was his next word salad of a statement that, all by itself, should serve as a reminder (not that we needed one) that this is not a man who is qualified to speak on who is and isn’t “mentally impaired.”

“I know that gun very well. I got to know it very well,” Trump said of the MK-47. “I’ve become an expert on guns quickly. My sons know guns. They couldn’t believe what the story they heard — the two stories they heard, actually. But I don’t care, because we’re doing it for you. We’re going to make our — I don’t care. I just say we got to do it.”

Sir — what?

Trump’s complete abandonment of complete sentences and thoughts that fit together aside, which is it? Are their stories about “hundreds of little cities and little towns” being occupied by these gangs, or just “two stories?” The only thing that is clear is that the “petrified” law enforcement can’t answer this question because, as usual, they don’t seem to know what Trump is talking about.

From NJ.com:

Trump first insisted that an Aurora apartment complex had been bought and taken over by gang members who were collecting rent. Later, Trump expanded the lie to say the entire city was being run by gangs.

But the police chief debunked the claim, saying that while Aurora has gang members — like many cities — they are not in control of the complex, nor are the collecting rent.

Listen: If Trump is elected to the White House in November, it won’t be because Harris is impaired mentally. It will be because America is not only a racist country, it’s a stupid and egregiously gullible one. Electing a president who, as his only practice, tells the American people ridiculous and easily debunked lies that didn’t sound true in the first place indicates the nation is more of an idiocracy than a democracy.

I won’t insult people with actual mental disabilities by saying MAGA voters are “mentally impaired,” but I will say they’re bigots who prioritize being told what they already want to believe over common sense or any semblance of critical thought.

Sad.
