iPhone 13 Pro Max is one of the best camera phone in the market specially for cinematic videos. oversharpen or saturated photos in iPhone 13 Pro Max

The issue with iPhone 13 Pro is that the Outdoor photos are oversaturated and the auto correction done by the iPhone 13 Pro makes photo look fake. The pictures are way over processed since the iPhone 12 in the iPhone 13 Pro max.

In HDR mode iPhone 13 Pro Max photos are really too much sharpen or coloured by the iPhone itself. It seem like you have put a filter on naturally taken photo. For example if you take a sky shot, The colour of the sky is so bright blue looking absolutely fake. This issue surely needs attention from Apple.

How to fix fix iPhone 13’s over sharpening/blending effect on photos?

Fix : Turn off HDR mode

It seems that the issue is mainly seen in the HDR mode, the iPhone takes bright and colored photos in the HDR mode. If you don’t want your iPhone photos to be saturated then please turn off the HDR mode.

To turn off the “Apply HDR” feature under Settings -> Photos .

Fix : Workaround

There is another workaround -

Go to settings>camera>formats and turn on Apple ProRAW. Then go into camera and turn ProRAW on at top of screen. Take photos. Now open in a raw photo editor such as Adobe Lightroom or Darkroom etc. Look at the sharpening settings!! Turn them down, off or adjust to taste.

Fix : Report issue to Apple

Since the camera is Apple provided feature and it software is also managed by iOS/Apple. If you are not able to get rid of the issue then please let Apple know by leaving feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/camera/
