Allen and Tom Hanks Achieved A lot of Success
The duo has gone on to receive some rave reviews for their incredible Toy Story performances in films, having carried their long-running roles through mainline films.
Lightyear will be as an origin story for the fictional space adventurer and hero that Allen’s Buzz Lightyear is based on, going on to explore his days when he was a Space Ranger trying to help his whole crew escape from an alien planet that went on to maroon them on.

As the film resumes its horible underperformance at the box office, a vet from a certain franchise has shared their thoughts on the Lightyear recasting.
While talking to CinemaBlend about his work in Elvis by Baz Luhrmann, Tom Hanks bought in on the re-casting of Lightyear debate. Hanks also shared that it felt extremely weird to see an actor take over the part from his co-star and friend Tim Allen and questioned the decision of the studio’ to do so.
See what Hanks said below:
“How about that? I actually wanted to go head-to-head with Tim Allen and then they didn’t let Tim Allen do it. I don’t understand that. Here’s the thing: I want to go back in the theatre with a bunch of strangers and leave with something in common. That’s what I want to do and, going to see a movie with [Allen] – I’m looking forward to that.”
The creative team of the movie, including Angus MacLane (Director) and Chris Evans, so far, defended the re-casting of Lightyear recasting, revealing that the spinoff nature of the film with a much more serious tone that was important for a different actor’s take on the Buzz mantle.
