AirPods not connecting with an incoming call from Apple Watch? Fixed Here!

Apple ecosystem is very strong when it comes to how different devices like Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods interact with each other. Apple has been working on making their devices integrable in most of the features such as call. But recently many users are facing issue in Answering a call from Apple Watch and hear it on the Airpods. The issue started suddenly as earlier all calls were easily answered on AirPods using Apple Watch but without any setting change the issue started to happen.

The issue is for iPhone, Apple Watch & AirPods,  while all are connected via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & LTE the incoming calls when received using Apple watch the call audio is not getting transferred to AirPods but the  voice streaming out of Apple Watch even when wearing AirPods. The green “airpods” button on apple watch answering incoming call is not there anymore. 

While you are wearing in AirPods and you get an incoming calls on Apple Watch, after pressing the answer from the watch , the call is not getting transferred to AirPods and there is no option to hear voice into my ear from the AirPods. This is very annoying issue as you can’t answer incoming calls to AirPods by button on apple watch. Below are some possible workaround/ fix for the issue:

Fix : Connection settings

If Apple Watch calls are not getting on AirPods then  one workaround would be that, Once you insert the AirPods go to Bluetooth, select the connected AirPod and scroll down to connect this -to when last used with this iPhone. No connection between AirPods and phone if ‘automatically’ is checked. 

Fix: Try different connection 

If incoming calls on Apple Watch and AirPods are not connecting then try below: 

On your iPhone:

• Connect Apple Watch and Airpods to Bluetooth

On your Apple Watch

• Go to Settings
• Go to Bluetooth
• Open Airpod Case
• Connect Airpods to Apple Watch Bluetooth

Try to answer a call and it should work in the AirPods.

Fix : Reboot & Try manually connecting the devices

Pease double check if the AirPods are connected to Apple Watch all the time. If not you can try to connect them manually, reboot all devices and try pairing , if it does not connect hit connect from Apple Watch. It shows “not connected” until you actually tap the AirPods from the  watch screen and they should start functioning normally afterwards.  

Fix : Try repairing the devices

If you are not able to answer call on AirPods from Apple Watch then we recommend you to unpair the devices and try to pair them again to fix any connectivity related issue in the devices.

Fix: update the devices

Due to some software glitch in the last update that your devices have , may cause incompatibility. To fix that make sure your devices are on latest version of software available 

1. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
2. Update your Apple Watch
