Activity GPS issue app not working on Apple Watch: iOS 14/WatchOs7
Apple Watch and iPhone users after updating their devices to the latest operating system are facing GPS map issue with the activity that no routes recorded in maps for activity. The GPS activity is not getting recorded. It seems to be a bug in the latest watch 0S7 or iOS 14 as No GPS/route information is saved with the Activity/Fitness App or in Health App of iPhone.
Even on the latest iPhone11 pro with Apple watch series 5 the issue is seen and Fitness app is not showing GPS data.
Below are the two major issue:
- There is no GPS map data for Activity shown in Apple Watch and iPhone and location is not getting recorded in Activity/ Fitness app
- The workouts aren't synced with the fitness app anymore.
- Sometimes the correct data is not getting recorded. Eg only half of the steps are counted by iPhone health app and Apple Watch.
How to fix Apple watch Not showing GPS map tracking for Activity/ Fitness App: Iphone 11 Pro Max, XR,XR,8/7 Plus
Fix 1: Restore the iPhone and Reset the Apple Watch Pairing
Back up the iPhone to iCloud or iTunes and then do a factory reset of all content and settings. Now restore the backup from my iCloud backup and try to pair Apple series watch and the fitness app should work normally.
Step by Step guide :
- Unpaired the Watch from iPhone
- Erased iPhone (make sure all your data, including Health data is backed up first)
- Restored from Backup (iPhone)
- Restored from Backup (Watch)
After restoring the iPhone and watch all previous activities before update will be restored and but will not record after iOS 14 update. It will be able to record current tracking the GPS correctly again.
This is the most successful fix for Fitness App not working on Apple watch on iPhone/ iOS 14.
Fix 2: Adjust Move goal
For sync issue between iPhone and Apple Watch, there is workaround. open the Fitness app on your watch and adjust your daily move goal. This should update it to the phone and fix sync issue.
Fix 2: Unpair and repair the watch
Unpair Apple Watch and pair it again, this should fix the problem. Might have to uninstall the strava app and reinstall after the unpair step. but please note that Re-pairing seems to only work if you still see map data for your old activities. If the map data is not showing up in your old activities re-pairing does not seem to work.
Fix 3: Reset both watch and iPhone
If none of the fixes works for you, you should try radical solution. you will have to restore your iPhone as new and set the smartwatch from scratch.
Fix 4: Check for update
The issue started after update of operating system on Apple Watch and iPhone. So the web is introducing latest version of operating system. The permanent fix regarding GPS notes not recording in activity app is expected to be in upcoming release of iOS 14 and WatchOs. Please update to latest version when available.
